Dear Parents,
I hope I can provide you with some information to assist you in helping me help your son or daughter do their very best in Biology or Chemistry!
Please let me explain how I record grades in the Parent Portal. I try to keep grades as updated as possible but some assignments may require a little bit more time for me to grade such as Labs, Projects, and Examinations.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please email me. I have set aside Thursday afternoons to respond to questions regarding grades. If there is a more urgent matter I will respond accordingly.
Thank you for all that you do at home to encourage a love for learning!

- If you do not see a zero or any other numbers for an assignment it just means that I have not yet entered grades. Please be patient with me as some assignments just need more time on my behalf. Your child may or may not have turned it in. Once I check the assignment, there will be a score, either a zero, ABS, or a number.
- If you see a zero your student has not turned the assignment in on time and will be marked down once he or she turns it in. They may have turned it into the late/absent tray and I may still need to record it. I usually update late and absent work once a week rather than every day.
- If you see ‘ABS’ for an assignment it means they were absent either the day assigned or collected and have one day for every day absent to complete the assignment and receive full credit. The 'ABS' grade will be recorded as zero-credit until the assignment is turned in. As, mentioned before, they may have turned it into the late/absent tray and I may still need to record it. I usually update late and absent work once a week rather than every day.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please email me. I have set aside Thursday afternoons to respond to questions regarding grades. If there is a more urgent matter I will respond accordingly.
Thank you for all that you do at home to encourage a love for learning!
